The Master’s programs provide advanced training in the theory and application of statistical methods in public health, clinical medicine, and the biological sciences. The Master’s degree program is designed to provide advanced training for a heterogeneous audience that includes individuals pursuing careers as professional statisticians or data analysts in industry, government or academia, those contemplating doctoral study in biostatistics, and established researchers seeking advanced training in biostatistics. For Brown undergraduates, we offer a fifth-year Master’s (AM) degree that can be completed in one year after receiving the bachelor’s degree. The AM degree program is also open to Brown Graduate students pursuing a master’s degree in a secondary field through the University’s Open Graduate Education Program (OGE).

Entry requirements for 布朗大學
Applications from students in applied fields such as biology, biochemistry, economics, and computer science are strongly encouraged, with the understanding that necessary mathematical coursework may have to be completed before enrollment in the program.
Prerequisites: Students entering the Master's degree program are assumed to have the necessary background including:
two to three semesters of calculus
one semester of linear algebra
at least one semester of probability
Students who have not taken the probability course will be strongly urged to take this in the summer before matriculation.
Experience with numerical computing is recommended.
Application Requirements
Official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate work (Applicants may also upload an unofficial transcript in the Documents section under Other)
Three letters of recommendation by persons well qualified to speak from first-hand knowledge about the applicant's potential for graduate study. In addition, we like to see letters of support from those who can attest to the applicant's interest in, and aptitude for, quantitative work related to biostatistics as well as those who have supervised the applicant in a biostatistics-related job or internship.
Statement of Purpose and Objectives that describes the applicant's understanding of, and desire to pursue a career in, biostatistics or public health data science. Applicants should discuss previous academic/professional activities that align with a career in biostatistics or public health data science.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE): General test is required.
Official GRE scores should be sent to SOPHAS using Brown SPH GRE reporting code 7765.
CV/Résumé that highlights academic/professional experience relevant to biostatistics or public health data science. It should also include the statistical software languages with which the applicant is familiar.
All international applicants whose native language is not English must submit an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score. The minimum score for admission consideration is 577 on the paper-based test and 90 on the Internet-based test. For IELTS, the recommended minimum overall band score is 7.
