Master of Arts in Economics

The economics degree program prepares students to enter Ph.D. programs in economics. In the past two decades, graduates of this program have entered Ph.D. programs at schools such as Yale, Purdue, Vanderbilt and more. Students also obtain quantitative and data analysis skills that are in demand in private, non-profit, and government sectors.Students routinely work closely with faculty on research projects, an important step in developing the ability to conduct research independently and successfully complete a thesis or substantive research paper. Students often coauthor with faculty ? this prepares students to not only perform research but also undertake the peer-review and publication process. There are a number of graduate assistantships available, and a majority of our students hold GA positions.
