In response to the evolving relationship between technology and the arts, this transdisciplinary program is designed for students with an interest in the application of computer and data science to the arts and cultural fields. Today, technology companies are increasingly interested in arts and cultural applications and partnerships. At the same time, arts and cultural organizations are increasingly working within the digital realm, not just on exhibition and program media and marketing, but on ways of using big data to increase cultural equity, or on proprietary software to run complex productions. This is the world that the arts and technology partnership between the Center for Business and Management of the Arts and the Center for Information Systems and Technology (CISAT) has been established to advance.

Entry requirements for Claremont Graduate University (CGU)
Applicants must submit a sealed, official transcript from every undergraduate and graduate institution that has granted the applicant a degree. For undergraduate coursework, applicants are required to submit proof of a completed bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Unofficial copies of transcripts are accepted for review purposes, but official copies will be required upon admission. Applicants must submit a copy of their resume. Please submit a 1,000 word statement of purpose that details your academic and/or professional achievements, your specific areas of interest within your desired field of study, why you are a strong candidate for graduate studies at CGU, and your career goals. Two letters of recommendation, All applicants that are invited for an interview will be notified via email. Interviews are required for admission. All interviews are conducted via Skype, unless otherwise requested. Applicants are asked to provide a writing sample that demonstrates the best of the candidate’s written and cognitive abilities. The writing sample helps the Admission Committee understand how a prospective student develops ideas, creates a theme or a position, communicates and defends the work in writing. Standardized test scores are not required in order to apply for this program. Applicants who have taken the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) General Test are invited to submit scores, but are not required to do so. A minimum TOEFL score of 95 iBT, or a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 with no sub-score lower than 6.5, is required for direct-entry admission. Admitted students who score below 95 iBT on the TOEFL, or below 7.0 on the IELTS, will be required to successfully complete ISP (earning a grade of B or higher in each required ISP course) prior to beginning their degree programs.
