Bachelor of Science in Information Science - Information Ethics, Law, and Policy

The BS in Information Science (IS) allows students to study the creation, representation, organization, application, and analysis of information in digital form. Information Science offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). The BS in Information Science (IS) allows students to study the design and use of information systems in a social context. The field studies the creation, representation, organization, application, and analysis of information in digital form. The focus of Information Science is on technological systems and their use, approached through an interdisciplinary approach with a variety of methodologies. the department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science, Systems, and Technology (ISST) to students in the College of Engineering (BS-ISST). This degree differs substantially from the A&S and CALS Information Science programs.

This concentration provides training and insight into the ethical, legal, and policy dimensions of contemporary information technology. Building on research and contemporary debates in law, policy and the social sciences, Ethics, Law and Policy (ELP) students learn about key processes and institutions shaping the technology landscape, and how these institutions are changing in turn to accommodate emerging technologies and practices.
