Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Statistics

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Rochester is a research oriented department with a strong interest in preparing the next generation of mathematicians, scientists, and engineers for successful careers in industry, research, and business. This major requires fourteen courses, of which eleven are foundational or core courses and three are additional advanced courses.
Studying mathematics is not only exciting and rewarding, it’s also a great career choice. Math majors can choose from a wide range of careers including teaching, research, software engineering, statistics, operations research, finance, and many others. In addition, law schools, medical schools, and other professional schools look favorably on math majors.
