We prepare students for careers as psychologists, research scientists, community health and wellness professionals, and university and college faculty who advance the use of culturally responsive personality theories, methods, and approaches to promote health and wellness, emotional intelligence, and racial and gender inclusion and equity.
The APA-accredited Ph.D. program in Psychology (specialization in Personality Psychology) at Howard?s Graduate School provides rigorous training in the study of the affective, cognitive, sociocultural, biological, and motivational processes underlying psychological differences among individuals. Our Ph.D. program in Personality Psychology emphasizes a strong grounding in contemporary theoretical orientations in personality psychology and multi-method approaches that combine personality measurement and assessment, self-report and direct behavioral observation, narrative and life story methods, experience, correlational, longitudinal, and dyadic sampling methods, survey and field research design, measurement of electrodermal, electromyographic, and cardiovascular activity, fMRI, and peripheral psychophysiology.

Entry requirements for 霍華大學
Complete the on-line application including uploaded copies of the statement of interest, resume, email address for three recommenders who will submit a letter on your behalf, unofficial transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended, GRE scores, TOEFL scores, and a statement of financial resources, graduate assistantships and fellowships. Persons applying to graduate programs must have a superior academic record and the equivalent of Howard University's four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. The student must have earned a B.S. or B.A. degree, and have a grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.0 or better in science courses. Three letters of recommendation must be submitted, preferably by individuals who can specifically evaluate the scientific ability of the student. Transcripts indicating all undergraduate and graduate courses completed, must also be submitted
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) a score of 90 on the Internet base (IBT) is required for applicants whose native language is not English. Official TOEFL scores must be sent directly from ETS. The TOEFL test is only waived if the applicant has received a degree in the U.S. In lieu of the TOEFL (if not offered in your country), applicants may submit results from IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with an overall score of a 6.5.
