The Master of Science in Engineering and Public Policy provides students with a background in engineering with the tools necessary to conduct robust policy analysis. The coming decades will represent a crucial time in human history. Environmental change, urbanization, and technological progress will profoundly reshape how we live and work. From the opportunities of renewable energy and artificial intelligence to the threats of climate change and aging infrastructure, engineering professionals with both technical and policy expertise are poised to be the key decision-makers and leaders of the future. Already, public policy expertise is vital for successful planning and completion of civil and environmental engineering projects.
Northeastern University’s Master of Science in Engineering and Public Policy provides the knowledge and tools needed to combine engineering analysis with public policy and decision-making. This program covers the core skills necessary to link engineering design and analysis research with the economic and policy contexts needed for decisions that affect society at large. You’ll study specific engineering applications within one of the concentrations, coupled with fundamental methodologies in policy analysis, economics, and statistics.

Entry requirements for 東北大學
In order to be minimally qualified to pursue admission through the Graduate School of Engineering, a candidate must have successfully completed or is in the process of completing an undergraduate bachelors degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, or its equivalent from a foreign college or university. Any offer of admission is contingent upon a candidate’s successful completion of an undergraduate bachelors degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, or its equivalent from a foreign college or university.
Completed online application form. (Paper applications are not accepted.)
Application fee of USD $75 to be paid online by credit card, electronic check, or by money order.
Two confidential letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with technical, professional, and personal qualifications submitted through the online application system.
Statement of Purpose. The statement is submitted through the online application system.
Resume. The resume is submitted through the online application system.
Transcripts. Applicants should (a) acquire official or unofficial copies of their transcripts from each college or university that they have attended.
Because applicants are not interviewed to assess their English proficiency, taking the TOEFL or IELTS exam and submitting official scores as part of the admissions process is required of most applicants who are non-U.S. citizens or non-U.S. permanent residents.
For most programs, the GRE is required, except for applicants who have received or will receive a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program from a college or university that is located within the U.S.
The required minimum TOEFL score is 79 (internet-based), 550 (paper-based), and 213 (computer-based). The required minimum IELTS score is 6.5.
