The Master of Science in Sustainable Building Systems focuses on the design and operation of buildings to provide a comfortable, healthy, and productive indoor environment with minimal energy and environmental impact. The Master of Science in Sustainable Building Systems integrates elements of an architectural engineering program with construction management while embracing the concepts of engineering sustainability as related to energy and materials usage and the effect on the environment. The program focuses on the design and operation of buildings to provide a comfortable, healthy, and productive environment and landscape with minimal energy and environmental impact. Prospective students for the MSSBS program are engineering, architecture, business or science majors, and industry professionals pursuing an industrial or public planning-based career, who desire to gain cutting-edge knowledge in sustainability practices for building systems development and its infrastructure.

Entry requirements for 東北大學
Completed online application form. (Paper applications are not accepted.)
Application fee of USD $75 to be paid online by credit card, electronic check, or by money order.
Two confidential letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with technical, professional, and personal qualifications submitted through the online application system.
Transcripts. Applicants should (a) acquire official or unofficial copies of their transcripts from each college or university that they have attended.
Because applicants are not interviewed to assess their English proficiency, taking the TOEFL or IELTS exam and submitting official scores as part of the admissions process is required of most applicants who are non-U.S. citizens or non-U.S. permanent residents.
For most programs, the GRE is required, except for applicants who have received or will receive a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program from a college or university that is located within the U.S.
The required minimum TOEFL score is 79 (internet-based), 550 (paper-based), and 213 (computer-based). The required minimum IELTS score is 6.5.
