Master of Nutrition and Dietetics

For science graduates, the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics will launch you straight into a career as a dietitian. With practical training in human nutrition and access to eminent dietitians, this degree will bring you to the forefront of dietetic and nutrition research and practice.
The Master of Nutrition and Dietetics is a postgraduate professional coursework degree to prepare students to work in all the major areas of nutrition and dietetics. It builds on major concepts from the study of human biochemistry, physiology, nutrition science and other biosciences. The course will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in public health nutrition and health promotion, individual patient case management, food service management, and research and evaluation.

You will complete a prescribed program of core units in your first year covering topics such as nutritional and behavioural sciences, communication. counselling and education skills, dietary assessment, medical nutrition therapy and the role of diet in health and disease. In your second year you will complete a training placement comprising 20 weeks of individual case management, community and food service placement training. Additionally, you will undertake a semester of nutrition research, which may include a small survey, laboratory work, hospital project, secondary data analysis, or a literature review.
