Master of Science in Plant Pathology
關於課程
Our department has its roots in the Citrus Experiment Station, which was established in Riverside in 1905. Although the department has maintained strength in the study of diseases of citrus, the scope has expanded to include concentrations in numerous other plant diseases as well as many sub-disciplines of microbiology. Represented among our faculty are experts in the fields of genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, ecology, evolutionary biology, and traditional aspects of disease control. Many faculty members have close interactions with industry representatives, advisors, and policy makers throughout California and worldwide. This is critical to applied research for identifying emerging and common plant diseases and microbes, and developing innovative management programs based on ecological and epidemiological approaches.

Entry requirements for 加州大學河濱分校
In addition to meeting the requirements for admission to the Graduate Division, students typically have a baccalaureate major in a biological science or training equivalent to that given in the Plant Science curriculum of the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (need to link). Majors in the physical sciences are welcomed, but students must be prepared to augment their undergraduate preparation with courses in the biological sciences. All applicants must provide GRE General Test scores (verbal, quantitative, analytical).
All candidates for the M.S. or the Ph.D. degree should have good basic preparation in chemistry and biology. It is common for students to have completed courses in biochemistry, organic chemistry, cell and molecular biology, elementary college mathematics, general physics, general botany, microbiology, statistics, genetics, plant physiology, mycology, and plant pathology. This list is intended to represent the minimum background required for students wishing to pursue a graduate degree in Plant Pathology. Additional course work and laboratory experience in microbiology, biochemistry or genetics is highly desirable. However, upon the recommendation of the graduate advisory committee, occasionally a student may be admitted into the graduate program with one or more course work deficiencies, such students must satisfy these course work deficiencies usually within the first and no later than within the second year of graduate study.
The minimum acceptable scores are: 550 for the written exam, 213 for the computer-based exam, and 80 for the internet-based exam (iBT) The minimum acceptable overall score is 7 with no score less than 6 on any individual component.
