Master of Science in Information Management

The Master of Science (MS) in Information Management prepares students for professional roles in the design and management of information systems and services in organizations in a range of sectors. Areas of specialization include data science and analytics, privacy, trust, security and ethics, information architecture and design, knowledge management and information consulting.Designed to meet the growing demand for information professionals, the MS/IM prepares you to lead the way in using today's growing information resources to address key organizational and social challenges.Through our flexible curriculum—which emphasizes the intersection of people, information, and technology—students develop advanced skills in information management and analysis that can be applied in a broad range of employment settings. Electives are available in a variety of areas, and the program offers course groupings customized to specific career pathways. Apply foundational concepts, theories, and principles to problems of information management.Understand some of the larger sociotechnical contexts in which information management occurs.Apply appropriate analytic approaches to the needs of a given problem and understand how aspects of logic, statistical analysis, and broader domain knowledge can inform the interpretation and confidence in their analyses.Have an awareness of the rapid change in the evolving information professions, the change in technologies and methods deployed, the evolving ethical principles around information use, and the need to be continually learning new skills and subspecializations in order to be a valuable member of a multidisciplinary team.
