Multiple emphasis areas within the Master of Education program allow students to focus their studies on a defined area.
The Master of Education degree has five emphasis areas:
Curriculum and Instruction
Early Childhood Education
Interdisciplinary Studies
Reading
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
The Master of Education program was designed to build a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and understanding for dedicated, experienced professionals in a diverse range of interest areas. Along with general advanced coursework, students choose from one of five specialized emphasis areas depending on their career goals. Candidates will have the opportunity to engage in action research within their own classrooms or educational work settings. A variety of coursework will better prepare students to identify problems of practice, collect and analyze data to improve student learning, develop curriculum, practice learning theory and pedagogy, educational technology and educational administration.

Entry requirements for 密蘇里大學聖路易分校
Official transcripts from all universities attended
a. Successful applicants must have completed a baccalaureate degree in education before beginning the master’s
program.
3. Grade Point Average
a. Minimum of 3.0 on 4.0 scale
b. Students whose total undergraduate GPA and major GPA are between 2.75 and 2.99 may be admitted on a
restricted basis except in the following circumstances:
i. Admission requires GPAs of 2.75 or better in
1. a) the undergraduate major field,
2. b) education coursework, and
3. c) overall.
ii. Students with GPAs below 2.75 may submit supportive evidence and letters of recommendation. Students
entering with GPAs below 2.75 are admitted on restricted status and required to obtain a 3.0 graduate GPA
in their first 9 graduate hours.
4. Entrance examinations
a. There are no entrance exams for domestic students.
b. International students are required to document English proficiency by providing scores from an internationally
accepted standardized examination before a decision is made on admission.
5. Letters of recommendation
a. May be invited for applicants who do not meet the normal criteria for admission.
