Doctor of Philosophy in Neurobiology

The principal goal of neurobiology is to understand how the nervous system works, from ion channels to whole organisms. Neurobiologists in our School use a wide range of model systems, including round worms, insects, and vertebrates such as fish, frogs, birds, and rodents. Investigators employ advanced methodologies in electron and light optics as well as classical techniques such as electrophysiological recording. The School of Biological Sciences offers exceptional opportunities to learn, work, and collaborate across levels of biological organization and styles of research. Faculty research interests span the complete spectrum of biological phenomena and disciplines, from biochemistry to global environmental change.
