In accordance with the Utah State Office of Education?s ruling R277-502-3(5), the University of Utah?s Department of Special Education has established entry requirements designed to ensure that only well qualified individuals enter the program. Minimum requirements for admission in the University of Utah?s Department of Special Education include: a minimum GPA of 3.0, proof of a USBE-cleared fingerprint background check. The Admissions Committee in the Department of Special Education will take a holistic approach to evaluating each applicant?s file by examining: GPA, test scores, letters of recommendation, applicant?s personal statement and work history.
