Overview
Auckland University of Technology (AUT) has a mission to create great graduates. The university offers exceptional learning experiences that prepare students to be successful wherever in the world their career may take them. Innovation and entrepreneurship are encouraged, along with the ability to explore new technologies, challenge routine thinking, and solve problems in new ways. AUT graduates are highly sought after by employers, with 95 per cent of available graduates in paid employment within nine months of graduation.
AUT's three modern campuses have several award-winning buildings created using sustainable principles and with inviting, collaborative and functional learning areas, auditoriums and research spaces. This includes the state-of-the-art Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences building, with unique design features making it a teaching tool and ‘living lab' where students can get hands-on experience.
AUT's success in creating transformational educational spaces has been recognised with a five-star ranking for teaching and facilities, awarded by the university rankings organisation QS. AUT offers more than 250 courses in subjects ranging from engineering and health sciences to art and design and business. AUT is proud to be one of the world's best modern universities, ranked as the top millennial university in Australasia and in the top 40 universities under 50 years old worldwide by Times Higher Education.
AUT has been a university since the year 2000, and is now the second largest in the country and ranked among the top one per cent and top 300 (251-300) of universities in the world. AUT has more than 60 research centres and institutes delivering leading research, from space research to artificial intelligence and robotics, and ecology to physical activity and nutrition. AUT's research feeds back into the classroom, and students can contribute to and learn from these research discoveries.
