Launch of the new Digital Institute

The university has recently launched its new Digital Institute with an exciting virtual event, beginning a new era of cutting-edge digital research within the institution in response to unprecedented changes and new challenges in recent times.

University staff, academics, industry leaders and other partners gathered to mark the occasion and discuss how the new institute will impact students and their learning experience. The new institute will gather expertise and students together in an energized environment to explore and address a range of emerging issues. Whether its generating improvements to the quality of life for citizens around the world, cultivating economic success through cutting-edge data technologies, or new cyber security challenges, the institute will allow students to jump into the front and centre of these debates.

Brunel University London has always been at the cutting-edge of educational innovation and the cultivation of teaching quality. For over 50 years the university has championed new approaches to education such as sandwich degrees. Brunel has worked tirelessly to ensure students are able to secure a powerful combination of academic and professional skills that will allow them to excel in the future.

Brunel has various initiatives to support learners through their journey at the university as applicants, students, and graduates. These include a team of career consultants who work with students during their time at Brunel and after graduation.

The Brunel Educational Excellence Centre (BEEC) works on enhancing the teaching and learning experience of Brunel students by offering a vast range of extra-curricular learning opportunities.

Brunel is also well-known for adopting technology that promotes a flexible and interactive approach to learning.

Brunel University London covers 32 subject areas. The university is well-known for its strong practical learning, research-led teaching and modern facilities.

Brunel University London International College offers pathways programmes to help students prepare for undergraduate and postgraduate study at Brunel. Subject areas include pathways to Business and Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Economics and Finance and Law. It also offers foundation programmes for the undergraduate level in Economics and Mathematics, Engineering and Mathematics and Computing. Pre-master's programmes are also available through the college. The Pre-masters is offered in Arts, Business and Management, Design, Engineering Environmental Science, Computer Science and Law.

Undergraduate programmes have a 3-4 year duration and are available in many disciplines ranging from Aerospace Engineering and Anthropology to Life Sciences and Digital Media.

Postgraduate programmes cover a range of subjects including Structural Engineering, Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences, International Relations and Journalism. The duration for these ranges from 1-3 years.

PhD and Research programmes have a 3-6 year study mode and are available in a variety of fields from Ageing and Biosciences to Civil Engineering, Health Economics and Law.

Several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offer placements and have a 1-5 year duration. Joint honour's programmes with and without placements are also available. These have a 3-4 year duration.

Brunel's Language Centre offers pre-sessional English courses from 6-50 weeks and English language support during the degree.

Applicants should identify their desired course of study and fulfil specific academic, visa and financial requirements.

Undergraduate students

Prospective students can apply for full-time undergraduate programmes through UCAS or apply online through agents if the application is not through UCAS. UG applications are accepted via the common app for students from the USA.

Postgraduate students

Students must apply online and must submit documents electronically or by post to the admissions office. They need to submit documentary proof of qualifications including English language proficiency.

Documents required include:

• An academic transcript for each previous degree completed
• Two references, one from the academic institution of study the applicant most recently attended and one from a current or recent employer
• Sponsorship details
• Proof of English language qualification such as IELTS or GCSE
• Passport copy
• Personal statement
• Relevant certificates

Applicants to Brunel must demonstrate a minimum level of English Language competency within their application to the university. The university accepts a wide range of qualifications and issuing bodies. Minimum requirements can vary according to the program and level of study selected, so applicants should check the page of the course they have chosen prior to application. For some countries of origin, an academic qualification may be accepted instead of an English test score.

Brunel offers more than 100 scholarships for international students every year. These help students partially fund their living costs and fees. The university also works with different scholarship organisations like the Santander Mobility Awards, Chevening and The Commonwealth Scholarships.

International scholarships at Brunel include the following:

• International Excellence Scholarship: This awards students a GBP 6,000 tuition fee waiver in the first year of study. Students must have applied for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate-taught programme.
• Santander International Scholarship: This awards students GBP 3,000 in the first year of study. The awards are available to students who are from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, USA, and Venezuela. Other countries are considered at Brunel's discretion.
• Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship: This scholarship is open to students enrolled for postgraduate-taught courses at Brunel. It is offered to high performing prospective postgraduate students and Brunel alumni who wish to undertake further postgraduate study. The scholarship gives a 15 percent fee discount to students who qualify. Brunel alumni could qualify for an additional discount.
• Commonwealth Scholarships (Postgraduate): Commonwealth Master's Scholarships are for applicants from low and middle-income countries around the Commonwealth. They are mainly funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP). Talented students from any Commonwealth country or the host country applying for a master's degree can be eligible for the award.

Students must meet conditions to qualify for all these scholarships. Additionally, some course specific grants are also available.
