Curtin has a global reputation for its quality teaching and research, earning it a place in the top one per cent of universities worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2019. The university was also ranked 9th in Australia in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019. The QS World University Rankings places Curtin at 21st globally in a global review of young institutions under 50 years of age.

The university boasts a strong global footprint with campuses in Western Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius, and partnerships with more than 130 education institutions. At Curtin, students can gain an internationally recognised qualification while adding a global dimension to their degree.

Students can study undergraduate and postgraduate courses in technology-rich environments and simulated workplace settings. What's new

Curtin University is enhancing its campus and community presence through the Exchange precinct project. This project focuses on bringing together industry, education, and community, facilitating and encouraging the sharing of ideas, creativity, and knowledge and serves as a catalyst for progress and innovation. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop and refine their skills as well as benefit from an enhanced academic experience.

The precinct will feature modern student accommodation, a new facility for Curtin's School of Design and the Built Environment, apartments, a boutique hotel, speciality retail shops, and commercial space for industry partners. Students and the wider university community will benefit greatly from the developments, adding to the energy and dynamism of the institution. It is due to officially to open by January 2022.

Teaching quality

At Curtin, teaching is personalised and informative with accomplished academic mentors, making for an excellent learning experience and students enjoy access to high-tech facilities. The university's teaching quality is recognised with a five-star ranking for overall experience, skills development, teaching quality and learner engagement in the Good Universities Guide 2019.

Teaching methods and interactive facilities help students gain critical and practical thinking skills. The university uses a ‘flipped classroom' approach, where students collaborate with their peers to discuss and debate issues, and solve problems guided by mentors and advisors.

Classroom learning is industry relevant, enabling students to what they learn to real industry projects. Through the university's partnerships with companies such as Woodside Energy, BHP, CISCO and Western Australia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, students gain exposure to some of the industry's top employers, while learning key workplace skills, undertaking on-the-ground research and gaining insight into future careers.

Centre for Aboriginal Studies

The centre covers the rich and diverse cultural history of Indigenous Australian people, and the political and social issues that affect them. Through its study options at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, it helps towards making a positive social change for Aboriginal Australians.

Faculty of Business and Law

The faculty is at the forefront of strategic forecasting, contemporary debate, and analysis. Curtin Business School is an elite global business school offering international recognised study options and accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Faculty of Health Sciences

The faculty offers a hands-on learning experience, imparting knowledge and discoveries that help them make a difference to people's health. Curtin Health Sciences was ranked in the top ten nationally for Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health Subjects in the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject.

Faculty of Humanities

The faculty offers students humanities qualifications that are globally relevant that focus on sustainability and community development.

Faculty of Science and Engineering

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

English language requirements

All international applicants are required to have a recognised English language qualification such as IELTS or equivalent.

For most undergraduate courses, students need the equivalent of IELTS 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6.0 in each band. Some courses require a lower or higher level of English.

Undergraduate applicants must meet English language, academic, and specific course requirements. Students must check the individual entry requirements for their course.

Postgraduate entry

Students who haven't met the university's minimum entry requirements may study at Curtin English, Curtin College or both. Simulated Hospital Ward

The university recreates for students the environment of that of a major hospital in Perth, supports virtual and augmented realities, with life-like computerised mannikins and anatomage tables.

Stock Market Trading Room

Simulating a real-life business environment with Thomson Reuters software and Wall Street-inspired terminals, the Trading Room put students at the centre of global finance.

Security and personal safety

Curtin is dedicated to student safety on campus.

For a safe and friendly campus, Curtin's Safer Community team provides after-hours security escort, a security patrol, emergency telephone stations, a campus courtesy bus, SafeZone (a free student safety app), well-lit pathways, and secure-card building access.

International Scholarships

International Scholarships

Curtin offers numerous scholarships to international students taking up coursework degrees at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the areas of humanities, business, science, health sciences, and engineering- to help them grow to their full potential.

Merit Scholarship

Curtin University acknowledges the importance of being one of Australia's most multicultural university campuses and this scholarship aims to grow the trust and confidence in Curtin University as a place for students to further their studies, careers and life experiences. This scholarship category awards eligible students up to 25% off their first year of tuition fees for programs at Curtin's WA campuses.

Australian Year 12 scholarship

A dedicated scholarship for international students who have successfully completed an Australian high school qualification either in Australia or overseas. Successful applicants for the Australian Year 12 scholarship receive 25% of the first-year tuition fee for programs at Curtin's WA campuses.

Alumni and Family Scholarship

A dedicated scholarship for international students who have considerable personal or family linkages to Curtin. Successful applicants for the Alumni and Family scholarship will receive up to 25% of their first-year tuition fee for programs at Curtin's WA campuses.

Access Support Scholarship

This scholarship is additional support for international students that commence their studies with Curtin in Semester 1 2021 and have to study online due to travel restrictions. Eligible applicants for the Access Support Scholarship will receive AUD$1500 one-off fee remission against their Semester 1 2021 tuition fees for programs at Curtin's Western Australian campuses. To be eligible, students must be a recipient of either a Merit, Alumni and Family or Australian Year 12 scholarship.

Starter Support scholarship

This scholarship is additional support for students that commence their studies with Curtin in Semester 1 2021 and have to study online due to travel restrictions. Successful applicants for the Starter Support Scholarship that undertake a full-time course load (100 credit points) in Semester 1 2021, will receive AUD$5000 one-off fee remission against their Semester 1 tuition fees for programs at Curtin's Western Australian campuses.
