Overview

Overview

Established in 1967, Fleming College offers a truly Canadian experience, both in and out of the classroom. Campuses are located in the historic cities of Peterborough, Lindsay and Haliburton, which are popular Ontario tourist destinations. Students will have all the advantages of urban living with nature right at their doorstep and can enjoy the great lakes and vast natural landscapes of forests and plains that the province has to offer.

It is one of Ontario's earliest applied arts and technology institutions, named after Sir Sandford Fleming, a Scottish-born engineer and inventor who designed Canada's first transcontinental railway and invented Universal Standard Time, the system still used to tell the time around the world today.

The college offers a comprehensive portfolio of vocational training programs, from apprenticeships to postgraduate programs. Courses range from accounting, aquaculture and wireless information networking through to urban forestry, visual art and welding, and more.

Class sizes are small and designed to make learning personal. Students have the opportunity to form strong bonds with faculty and benefit from mentoring that can extend beyond academics. Students will get to know their instructors and classmates, creating connections that will last a lifetime.

The college's programs are designed to meet the needs of employers. Both theory and practical learning components are continuously updated to address emerging trends and changes in the industry. Students can practice what they learn in a number of different ways, including labs, field camps, simulations, work or co-op placements, or applied or community projects.

In fact, 95.7 per cent of employers were satisfied or very satisfied with the college's graduates' preparation for the workplace (Key Performance Indicator Survey), proving that Fleming is a great choice for international education.
