New buildings for engineering, nursing and business

In June 2021, Hofstra broke ground on a new, USD 75 million Science and Innovation Center. The building is a 75,000 square-foot facility that houses the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science, as well as the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. The center has simulation facilities for nursing students and advanced labs for science and engineering students. The building opened in fall 2023.

The Frank G. Zarb School of Business is a 52,000-square-foot building home to a Behavioral Science and Market Research Lab, a makerspace/start-up incubator, and an improved Center for Entrepreneurship. There are independent and group study spaces and many staff and student offices.

The added spaces enhance students' practical learning and gives them the opportunity to experience real-world projects. The Zarb School is located next to the C.V. Starr Hall, which is where the business school's classrooms and lecture spaces are. It has been designed with the environment in mind, as energy-efficient systems and technologies have been installed.

Pathways to prestigious degrees

Students will be set up for academic success at the university after completing their pathway programs. The different pathways on offer allow students to earn degree credits and improve their English language skills. Afterwards, they can progress to academic degree programs at Hofstra University.

Hofstra's graduate successes

93 percent of degree recipients are employed, attending graduate school or both, according to the Undergraduate and Graduate Alumni Outcomes survey 2021–22. Moreover, 81 percent of degree recipients accepted employment offers within three months of graduating, according to the Undergraduate Alumni Outcomes survey 2021-22.

Career preparation

Hofstra gets students ready for the professional world through industry-tailored programs, events, resources and services. This includes Curricular Practical Training (CPT) opportunities like the MBA and engineering co-op programs, industry learning facilities, networking events and other opportunities.

The university helps each student develop an impressive resume that will help them stand out in the competitive job market. Programs with paid co-op (CPT) opportunities have significant earning potential, ranging from USD 15,000 (MBA: 3-5 months) to USD 25,000 (engineering and computer science: 6-8 months).

The CPT does not interfere with the up to three years of Optional Practical Training (OPT). In fact, CPTs help students improve their chances of securing OPT opportunities after graduation.
