Overview

The University of Sydney, located in Sydney, Australia, is a world-renowned institution that is consistently ranked in the top 50 universities in the world (QS World University Rankings, 2023). It is also ranked first in Australia and fourth in the world for graduate employability by the QS Graduate Employability Rankings, 2022. Students come from all over the globe to study at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Students have the choice of selecting from Australia's widest range of programmes and disciplines. Offering over 400 study areas to select from, the university has five subjects that are ranked in the top ten in the world, with an additional 28 disciplines ranked amongst the top 50 in the world (2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject). Career opportunities for students are enhanced through internships and work experience, as well as the option of studying abroad for part of their degree through one of the university's overseas programmes.

Students study, learn and develop in a supportive and facilitative environment with a significant number of services at their disposal. This includes academic and professional support as well as disability services, a confidential counselling service, health service, and financial assistance office. Students can also get involved with one of the more than 250 clubs and societies on campus run by the University of Sydney Union (USU), with everything from sport through to cultural groups.

There are plenty of facilities on campus for students to make use of, including a gym with a heated Olympic-size swimming pool and a rock-climbing centre. Additionally, there are art galleries, museums, cafes, restaurants and bars to enjoy. Students also have access to the largest academic library in the southern hemisphere.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

If English is not students' first language, they will need to offer proof of their proficiency in the language before they can commence their studies at the university.

Students can do this by offering the university proof to indicate that they have completed particular secondary or tertiary qualifications. Students can prove their proficiency by sitting for English language skills tests, or by completing suitable English language courses at the University of Sydney's Centre for English Teaching (CET).
