Overview

Overview

First founded in 2002, the University of Guelph-Humber is a unique partnership between two high-quality institutions - the University of Guelph and the Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.

Students are able to choose from seven different undergraduate programs, and upon completion will earn both a four-year honour's degree from the University of Guelph, but also a diploma from Humber College, with both qualifications helping to boost students' prospects in their forthcoming careers.

All programs have a required work placement component that allow students to practice what they have learnt in the classroom in the real work setting. The University of Guelph-Humber is located in Toronto, one of the world's most diverse cities, providing students with many opportunities for unique and interesting placements.

With a close-knit community of approximately 5,000students, the average class size is only 49 students. This allows for students and faculty to interact, contributing to a supportive and collaborative setting. This collaboration extends to working partnerships, as students are able to take on roles as paid research assistants to help faculty complete exciting projects, and to further enhance their own employability prospects. The many opportunities afforded to Guelph-Humber students can give them incredible advantages when applying for future roles.

The First-year Experience (FYE) programs connects new students with a senior student at the university and through other new student orientation events, international students are supported in their transition. Getting involved on campus is easy with the help of Student Life staff.

International students are eligible to receive a Renewable International Student Entrance Scholarship, worth up to CAD 20,500 over four years in additional to many in course scholarships. Upon graduation, students are ready to enter the work force, or apply to graduate and professional programs.

Teaching quality

Teaching quality

With the unique nature of the partnership between the University of Guelph and Humber College, students at Guelph-Humber benefit from professors and instructors at both institutions. Faculty are experts within their chosen field, many of whom remain active within their profession and/or have completed extensive research projects.

This contemporary faculty expertise is of great benefit to students who receive the highest quality instruction and access to the latest research, all of which equips them for employment in their chosen profession or further study. Staff are not just experts in their subject – they are also excellent tutors, fostering critical thinking skills and inspiring students to question the knowledge shared with them.

Along with the faculty experience, students benefit from small class sizes that give students more time with their teachers, working closely with them and gaining more time to tap into their wisdom.

Scholarships & funding

International Student Entrance Scholarship

The International Student Entrance Scholarship provides qualified students with tuition funding of up to CAD 20,500 over four years. Students don't need to apply for this scholarship – any international student applying to the university is automatically considered for it, although not all students will receive it. Those who are successful will receive between CAD 2,000 and 8,500 in their first year, based on their average. If students continue to maintain a score of 80 per cent or above, the scholarship may be renewed for an additional CAD 4,000 per year, to a maximum of three years.

Successful students will receive the funds automatically in their university account, split across two payments. The first is made in first and the second is made at the start of second semester. Students only receive the funding if they are registered as a full-time student for that semester.
