This six year course will provide you with both a scientific foundation and specialist clinical and medical experience. In the first and second years of the degree, you will learn the fundamentals of biomedical and animal sciences that underpin veterinary sciences.

The Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine is a vertically integrated combined degree that will provide you with both a scientific foundation and specialist clinical and medical experience.

You will study core units from the Bachelor of Veterinary Biology in years one and two, where you will learn the fundamentals of biomedical and animal sciences that underpin veterinary sciences. Following successful completion of the first two years, you will progress to studying a prescribed course of core units and placements under the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

You will also participate in a mixture of small group, case-based tutorials, laboratory and practical classes teaching you clinical skills and animal handling training. In your final year, you will complete a series of rotations as a veterinary student intern at both the University's Veterinary Teaching Hospitals and at off-campus partner institutions. Subject to meeting certain academic requirements, you may have the option to complete honours in Veterinary Biology.

Entry requirements for The University of Sydney

Admission to this course is on the basis of a secondary school leaving qualification such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (including national and international equivalents), tertiary study or an approved preparation program. English language requirements must be met where these are not demonstrated by sufficient qualifications taught in English.IELTS score of 7.0 with no band below 7.0, Toefl Pbt 592, Toefl ibt 96.
