Social influence and persuasion are among the most basic and important functions of communication. This concentration focuses on how, when and why individuals, groups or organizations use various types of communication to influence the beliefs, attitudes and behaviors of other individuals, groups or organizations. Social influence professionals understand persuasion, deception, conflict, compliance gaining and more.
With an emphasis on communication research and presentation, the communication major equips students with leadership and persuasion skills that can lead to careers in health communication, sales, promotion, public relations, human resources, broadcasting, political campaigning and other professions that influence society every day.
