About the course
You will learn to combine traditional craft skills with the latest digital technologies and apply your research and development methods and manufacturing techniques. You will develop your drawing and visualisation skills and apply CAD and design processes with a range of projects briefs that explore critical and contextual studies, marketing and professional studies.
Our course will encourage you to express a personal design approach and signature style whilst responding to a range of studio and workshop-based projects delivered with several external organisations. You will explore design for niche markets and work in partnership with industry collaborators who providing ‘real world’ experiences that challenge you responds to the consumer.

Entry requirements for Robert Gordon University
SQA Higher: BBC to include Art & Design (or a creative design and/or technology subject e.g.Fashion and Textile Technology) and English (or a written subject requiring the use of English)
GCE A Level: BC to include Art & Design (or a creative design and/or technology subject e.g. Fashion and Textiles, Design and Textiles) and English (or a written subject requiring the use of English).
Irish Leaving Certificate Higher: H3H3H3 to include Art (or a creative design and/or technology subject e.g. Fashion and Textile Technology, Design and Technology) and English (or a written subject requiring the use of English)
IB Diploma: 24 to include Higher Level Visual Arts and English (or a written subject requiring the use of English e.g. Modern Studies, History).
All applicants with the appropriate qualifications (or due to sit appropriate qualifications) will be invited to attend a portfolio review/interview and participate in a selection process.
Suitable qualifications for entry to Year 2 (or above) may include relevant GCE A Levels, HNC/HND or Diploma in Foundation Studies (e.g. Art & Design, Design & Media, Fashion Design, Textile Design).

All advanced entry applicants with the appropriate qualifications (or due to sit appropriate qualifications) and who successfully meet the criteria will be invited to attend an ‘advanced’ portfolio review/interview and participate in a selection process.
Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS of 6.0 overall, with no component lower than 5.5, or an equivalent.
