The curriculum leading to the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree is designed to provide students with the academic and clinical preparation necessary to meet certification requirements for audiology by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and to prepare them to be competent professionals. This degree program is a four-year, full-time program. During the first three years of the program, students will be in residence on the Amherst campus and will complete required and elective course work, on-campus and off-campus clinical rotations, and a capstone research project. During the fourth year of the program, students will be placed in an intensive off-campus clinical externship.

Entry requirements for University of Massachusetts - Amherst

Students who are applying to the Au.D. program without prerequisite course work are strongly encouraged to complete this course work before applying for admission. Official transcripts from all postsecondary programs attended, official transcripts of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, and two letters of recommendation. In addition, foreign students must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and have achieved a score of 550 (paper-based test) or 80 (computer-based test), or higher. Students are required to submit an explanation that address any grades falling below a letter grade B or a GPA of 3.0 by US standards. IELTS- 6.5.
