THE World ranking

Boston College, the first institution of higher education to operate in the city of Boston, is today among the nation’s foremost universities, a leader in the liberal arts, scientific inquiry, and student formation. True to Jesuit, Catholic heritage, it has been committed to international collaboration since the founding in 1863. The college is educating men and women who shape the world with vision, justice, and charity.

The College core Curriculum is designed to help students broaden their horizons, to provide an immersion in the liberal arts, a foundation for the chosen field, and the critical thinking and understanding that is the beginning of a life of leadership. The disciplines vary, but a commitment to excellence, research, scholarship, and service unites the departments. It is committed to ensuring that all admitted students, no matter their socioeconomic backgrounds can succeed at BC. Boston is one of just 20 private U.S. universities that are need-blind and meet the full demonstrated need of all accepted students.

Located one mile west of the Chestnut Hill Campus, the Newton Campus is home to the Boston College Law School, athletic fields, and several freshman residence halls. Located across Commonwealth Avenue from the Chestnut Hill Campus, the Brighton Campus is home to the School of Theology and Ministry, the McMullen Museum of Art, administrative offices, and several new athletics fields.
