What's New

BGSU has enjoyed considerable success in recent recognition of its performance by the 2024 Wall Street Journal rankings. The university picked up several top accolades including:

  • Ranked as Ohio's top public or private university for student experience
  • Rated No. 1 university in the Midwest and beyond, that students would choose again
  • Top spot in the Midwest for students who say they made the right choice in their college decision, for the fourth consecutive year

The new category for best student experience was powered by one of the largest-ever independent surveys of verified college students and recent graduates in the U.S.

These rankings are reflected in real-time with BGSU welcoming one of its largest and the highest-achieving freshman classes in history with new, first-time student enrolment up 7 percent at nearly 3,500 students, as well as a historically high retention rate of 80 percent for first year returning students.

The new "Best Student Experience" category was informed by one of the most extensive independent surveys of verified college students and recent graduates in the United States. The rankings are reflected in real-time, and BGSU is currently experiencing a historically high retention rate of 80 percent for first year returning students, which supports these survey results.

BGSU works hard to ensure that students feel at home among the university community, and understand they are valued members of the college.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

BGSU is a well-funded institution which understands that the cost of embarking upon an undergraduate degree, and potentially moving cities or even countries to live and study in Ohio can be a significant financial undertaking.

The university works hard to ensure fair access to its high-quality curriculum, and aims to ensure students from a diversity of backgrounds are able to study here, and be part of the BGSU community and culture while reducing the overall amount of student debt after graduation.

This is why BGSU offers an impressive program of scholarships, grants, and financial aid schemes to which students are eligible on both merit-based and means-tested criteria.

More than 90 percent of all new BGSU students receive some form of financial assistance. This is often given in the form of a reduction on tuition fees, but can also be used to pay for accommodation, meals, books, transportation and other personal expenses.

There is a huge number of scholarships available at BGSU, and the best thing of all is that once a student is admitted, the university will automatically consider them for funding opportunities and will begin making scholarship offers based on their individual credentials.
