The University is divided into 13 schools and colleges, and the six health sciences. It offers a world of possibilities, with more than 200 academic programs, exciting undergraduate research opportunities and an ideal location for learning on Long Island's North Shore. The University offers more than 200 undergraduate programs, more than 100 master’s programs and more than 40 doctoral programs. It offers unique semester, academic year, and summer and winter programs in locations such as Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Korea, Madagascar and Tanzania.
The University campus lies about 60 miles east of Manhattan and 60 miles west of Montauk Point. It is only a short distance to the Atlantic beaches of the south shore and the vineyards of the East End. Situated on 1,039 acres on the north shore of Long Island, Stony Brook University is a four-season climate, tempered by proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and Long Island Sound.
