Founded in 1912, TSU is a comprehensive, urban, co-educational, land-grant institution in Nashville, Tennessee. Designated as a high research institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, Tennessee State strives for excellence in programming, offerings, and community engagement.

Tennessee State offers majors in the following undergraduate and graduate colleges and schools -- arts and sciences, business, education, engineering, technology, and computer science, health sciences, life and physical sciences, public service and urban affairs, agriculture and consumer sciences, nursing. The university offers more than 38 undergraduates, 24 graduate and 7 doctoral degrees in various majors.

Tennessee State University has two campuses, the lovely 500-acre main campus centrally-situated in the vibrant city of Nashville and the Avon Williams Campus, situated directly in the downtown district.
