Founded in 1876, Texas A&M University is the state's first public institution of higher learning and is a research-intensive flagship university dedicated to sending Aggie leaders out into the world prepared to take on the challenges of tomorrow. The university has flourished to become one of the nation's premier research universities. It is one of only three Tier 1 universities in the state and was designated as a sea grant and a space grant institution, making it among the first four universities to hold the triple distinction.

Texas A&M University - College Station is dedicated to the discovery, development, communication, and application of knowledge in a wide range of academic and professional fields. The university prepares students to assume roles in leadership, responsibility and service to society. With 133 undergraduate degree programs, 175 master's degree programs, 92 doctoral degree programs and 5 first professional degrees as options for study, Texas A&M is full of possibilities.

Located in the heart of the Houston-Dallas-Austin triangle and within a two-hour drive of 26 million of the state’s 28 million residents, Texas A&M's main campus in College Station is home to more than 64,000 students. Another 5,200 are at the branch campuses in Galveston and Qatar and at the School of Law, Higher Education Center at McAllen, and Health Science Center locations across Texas. Because of the emphasis that Texas A&M places on research and learning, there are numerous nationally-recognized centers, labs, and institutes that are part of the academic experience of Texas A&M at the main campus in College Station as well as at branch campuses in Galveston, Texas and Doha, Qatar. These facilities draw university faculty, staff, and students into academic and research partnerships with industry, government, and peer institutions both nationally and internationally.
