UNC Charlotte is North Carolina's urban research university. It leverages its location in the state's largest city to offer internationally competitive programs of research and creative activity, exemplary undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, and a focused set of community engagement initiatives. UNC Charlotte maintains a particular commitment to addressing the cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health, and social needs of the greater Charlotte region.

The University comprises seven professional colleges and offers 18 doctoral programs, 62 master's degree programs and 90 bachelor's degrees. More than 1,000 full-time faculty comprise the University’s academic departments. UNC Charlotte boasts more than 120,000 living alumni and adds roughly 4,000 to 4,500 new alumni each year.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has more than 400 student organizations to choose from, offering something for everyone. There are many benefits to joining a student organization: making new friends, developing new skills and abilities, working as part of a team, learning to set and achieve goals, sharing time and talents, as well as having fun.

Equipped with the latest swing technology and large swing bays, the Stubblefield Golf Center also has a spacious practice green and driving range for continual use and development of the 49ers nationally-recognized golf program. It is located at the nearby Rocky River Golf Course in Concord, N.C.

Chair back stadium seating, hospitality areas and an open-air terrace give Hayes Stadium a great environment to enjoy the 49ers baseball program. Packed houses enjoy spring games as the 49ers welcome some of the nation’s top baseball to town for Conference USA weekends.

It has a small town feel, but Charlotte offers a decidedly cosmopolitan core. Uptown is bustling with restaurants, nightlife, cultural arts and musical entertainment. Nestled among campus are some of the Southeast’s top gardens and trails. The University boasts 10 acres of outdoor gardens, a flourishing greenhouse and a tropical plant courtyard. Plays, dance recitals, exhibitions, concerts and more provide a range of artistic offerings to engage and inspire overall campus life of the students.
