關於課程
Build on your skills in mathematics, physics, computing and earth sciences to study the structure and processes of the Earth or atmosphere. Taught by the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences, Geophysics at Victoria is grouped into two areas—Solid Earth Geophysics and Meteorology. Meteorology courses are delivered in conjunction with staff from MetService. You'll also work with Dr Jim McGregor and Professor James Renwick on researching global and regional climates, and precipitation forecasting using global and regional weather model data. Study at the only university in New Zealand that offers qualifications in meteorology. Solid Earth examines the physical processes behind earthquakes, volcanoes, Earth deformation and geothermal activity. You'll also look at the structure and dynamics of the Earth from seismic, geodetic, electromagnetic and gravity data, and its relation to plate tectonics.
