This specialty is designed for students who want to work as an early childhood teacher in an early childhood centre. You’ll develop your understanding of early childhood education and the early childhood teaching national curriculum, Te Whariki. If you want to specialise in working with Pacific children, you can complete your practicum courses at a Pacific ECE centre, and study courses that develop your skills to be an effective early childhood teacher working with Pacific children.

Must meet Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand requirements**
Must meet Vulnerable Children Act requirements
Teaching Council requirements for conduct.
*For the purposes of entering an Initial Teacher Education programme, applicants (both domestic and international) must have gained UE through one of: NCEA via level 3 requirements in three subjects from the approved list, University of Cambridge International examinations or International Baccalaureate examinations.
Interview, numeracy and literacy competency assessment, CV and experience working with young children.
IELTS (Academic) with a band score of 7.0 in each component. TOEFL IBT -100.
International Baccalaureate (IB) with successful completion of a minimum of 24 points.
English language requirements
