Master of Science in Biochemistry

If you’re interested in building a career in the life sciences, look no further than a Master of Science in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University. Here, you’ll be immersed in a welcoming, intellectual environment where our faculty, staff and students explore the foundations of the biochemical mechanisms that drive life, death and disease at the molecular, cellular and organismal level. Plus, our program only has two required courses, so you can build a curriculum that fits your post-graduation plans. From cancer biology to RNA biosynthesis, you’ll explore paradigm-shifting biochemistry questions—preparing you for further study or a career in academia, government, health care or industry. While research is not required, most students choose to participate in experimental biomedical research for course credit. Students work with faculty mentors in the Biochemistry program. They can also choose from over 200 faculty mentors at CWRU School of Medicine and our affiliated hospitals. This opportunity is excellent preparation for students who wish to pursue a PhD degree, strong students may be permitted to transfer to our PhD program.

The degree can be completed with either full- or part-time study. Part-time study is convenient for research assistants in CWRU biomedical science laboratories.
