The Department of Entomology offers Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees. Graduate students may conduct research in a range of both basic and applied topics, including insect ecology and behavior, physiology, morphology, evolution and biosystematics, insect pathology, molecular biology and genetics, aquatic entomology, pollinator biology and apiculture, and integrated pest management. Employment opportunities for graduates exist in industry, academia and extension, federal, state and local governments, private and non-profit arenas, and in international and national spheres. The Entomology Graduate Program at the University of Maryland is designed to accommodate the individual needs and interests of each student. Therefore, there are few course requirements and the design of each program is strongly influenced by the student, advisor, and their thesis committee.

Entry requirements for 馬里蘭大學學院市分校
The Graduate School requires a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale).
Strength of three letters of recommendation from persons competent to judge the applicant's probable success in graduate school. These letters are usually from applicant's former professors who are able to give an in-depth evaluation of applicant's strengths and weaknesses with respect to academic work. Additional recommendations may come from employers or supervisors who are familiar with applicant's work experience.
Statement of Goals, Research Interests, and Experiences, and their relation to the intended program of study. The statement should highlight your reasons for pursuing a graduate degree in Entomology and should describe past experiences and accomplishments that bear on your goals
