Doctor of Philosophy in Building Engineering

The Building Engineering PhD program is an opportunity for students specializing in building performance, heritage conservation and fire safety engineering to enhance their knowledge of building engineering, specialize their skills and knowledge to supply the high demand in the private and public sectors and conduct research and development activities to advance the profession of building engineering.

PhD graduates in building engineering-related areas from Carleton have obtained prestigious research and development positions in major engineering companies as building scientists, energy modellers, sustainability consultants, restoration and retrofit experts for heritage buildings, digital and advanced computational modelling specialists, and fire safety engineers. They have become professors in Canadian universities and colleges. In addition, many of our graduates have been employed as researchers in the public sector including but not limited to the federal government research departments such as National Research Council and Natural Resources Canada.
