This collaboration gives you access to the best concentrated expertise on African Studies in Canada. Ottawa provides you with easy access to non-governmental organizations working in fields such as international development, human rights and the environment, as well as Federal Government departments such as Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, Immigration and Citizenship and Export Development Canada. Rich holdings of archival material are available in the National Archives of Canada. Ottawa is also home to a growing number of African-Canadian and diaspora community groups, African diplomatic representatives and Africanist faculty at three universities.

Entry requirements for 卡爾頓大學
A four-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with at least a B+ average in a relevant discipline
The normal requirement for admission to the master’s program is an honours B.A., with at least high honours standing in one of the disciplines represented in the Institute. Prospective applicants without such qualifications may be considered for admission if they have both a strong academic record and relevant work experience.
Two confidential Referee Appraisal Forms. These are generated electronically to those listed on your OUAC Application form. Ensure the information is correct and the referees have been informed of their role. Referees should be able to comment on your academic background and aptitude for graduate school.
One copy of Academic Transcripts/Audits from the university or universities you have attended. If you are currently completing your undergraduate degree, upload an interim transcript/audit before the February 1 deadline. Upon recommendation of admission, original official transcripts will be required.
One Statement of Intent outlining your interests and objectives in the Political Economy program. The statement should point to who you are, why you wish to study political economy, what you hope to achieve in our program, and how it can satisfy your own interests.
African Studies Specialization Form for applicants interested in applying to the collaborative master’s program in African Studies.
One Resumé/Curriculum Vitae.
One Writing Sample – a written work or essay that you feel displays your skills as a writer, researcher or thinker.
IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 IELTS (minimum 6.0 in each band). Internet-based TOEFL - 86 (20 in reading and listening, 22 in speaking and writing). Paper-based TOEFL - 580.
