Doctor of Philosophy in Systems and Control Engineering

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science ECSE section offers doctorate degrees in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering Systems and Control Engineering.The degree of Doctor of Philosophy is awarded by CWRU to a student studying systems and control engineering to recognize detailed, high-level knowledge of systems and control engineering (S&CE) in conjunction with an understanding of related fields together with a demonstration of the ability to execute independent investigations, to suggest new areas for research, and to communicate scientific information in an effective manner. The Ph.D. program in S&CE at CWRU trains highly qualified students to become successful researchers in systems and control engineering and leaders in the field. A curriculum of coursework is provided to advance and deepen a student?s knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals in the field of systems and control engineering as well as their chosen subfield. The curriculum incorporates a multidisciplinary flavor by encouraging students to take courses in related fields. Independent research strengthens the student?s ability to synthesize and apply knowledge learned both in the classroom as well as through independent study. An environment of scholarship and professional participation builds their confidence and ability to interact with scientists and engineers globally.
