Entry requirements for 東北大學

Computer Science MS degree candidates must have completed the following undergraduate material:
Data Structures
Computer Organization
Calculus (one year)
Discrete Mathematics
Experience in a high-level procedural language (C, C++, Java, or Scheme)
Industrial experience in these areas may be an acceptable substitute for formal coursework.

Students must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above (or 8/10, 80/100, or equivalent on an international scale).

Test score minimums are as follows:
GRE:
Verbal = 147
Quant = 152
AW = 3.5
Will superscore by subsection

To apply for admission to the MSCS program, you must submit an online application that includes:

PDF or scanned copies of unofficial undergraduate/graduate transcripts (official transcripts are only required after admission)
Statement of purpose that should include career goals and expected outcomes and benefits from the program (max. 1000 words)
Recent professional resume listing detailed position responsibilities
Three confidential letters of recommendation (must be submitted through our email system)
PDF or scanned copies of unofficial GRE General Test scores (official scores are only required after admission)
PDF or scanned copies of unofficial TOEFL examination scores from international students only (official scores are only required after admission)
The TOEFL or the IELTS is required of ALL international students. The only circumstances under which it is not required is for international students who received a bachelor’s or doctoral degree from an English-speaking institution in an English-speaking country. We do not accept Master’s degrees, global pathways or certificates as waivers.
