With the University of Utah?s Financial Planning program, you will be equipped to become a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and formulate individualized financial plans for your clients to follow. The University of Utah?s Financial Planning program is registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, allowing students who meet the CFP Board?s education requirement to sit for the CFP Certification Examination. The curriculum covers topics such as compliance, investment, retirement, risk management, insurance, taxes, and estate planning, with the end goal of being able to form working financial plans for clients to follow. Academic and Career Opportunities
If you want to network with other financial planning professionals and gain career skills, be sure to join the U?s chapter of the Financial Planning Association. Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the CFP Certification Examination. This, in tandem with the Financial Planning coursework completed at the U, will fulfill two of the four requirements to become a CFP professional. In addition to opening the door to a career as a certified financial planner, this certificate can also prepare you for work as a financial representative, banker, accountant, manager, or human resources specialist.
