Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Religious Studies - Religion, Politics, and the Common Good
在喬治城大學
關於課程
The department plays a significant role at all levels of the educational mission of Georgetown University. First, it serves the core curriculum with two required courses. The “Problem of God” and “Introduction to Biblical Literature” serve as alternate choices for the first mandatory course. The remainder of the department course offerings, with its extensive range of topics, serves as the pool for the second course requirement. Second, the department serves undergraduate majors with four options for concentration: Christian theology, religious ethics, biblical studies, and religious studies.
Religion, Politics, and the Common Good: This concentration is for students who are interested in studying the role of religion in public affairs (domestically and globally)—and also the perspective that theology and religious studies have to offer today’s critical issues. The concentration requirements include the gateway course (2850: Religion, Politics, and the Common Good), five electives (two of which can be taken outside of the THRS Department, approved in consultation with the advisor), one advanced THRS ethics course, the capstone seminar (4008: Religious Liberty), and the Senior Seminar in Religious Pluralism (4969). Concentrators are encouraged but are not required to write a senior thesis (roughly 60 pages of original research under the guidance of a university faculty member)
