Computer Systems and Software creates novel computing environments for edge, cloud, and high-performance computing. Designs span low-power, reconfigurable microarchitectures to integrated hardware/software systems to large-scale distributed software and internetworked devices that communicate, learn, and intelligently adapt to the environment. Activities focus on optimizing cross-cutting characteristics, such as power/energy consumption, resiliency, and security.
Modern systems of all types rely heavily on software for their operation. Thus, it is becoming essential for all engineering students to be familiar with modern software design and development techniques. In many application areas, hardware is now a commodity and software provides the value-added proposition. The computer systems and software faculty in the School of ECE is widely recognized for its expertise and leadership in critical software systems areas such as networks, embedded systems, and computer and network security. Further, the optimization of energy and power has emerged as a driving design constraint in future systems. CSS faculty are engaged in projects that address several key aspects of energy/power management including new memory technologies, novel microarchitectures, and system techniques for use in real-time embedded applications through the data center and scientific computing at the Exascale.

Entry requirements for 喬治亞理工學院
Most students who are accepted into the School of ECE's graduate program have a degree in electrical and/or computer engineering. Applicants with degrees in other engineering disciplines, computer science, mathematics, or the physical sciences are also eligible to apply. Qualified applicants with degrees in disciplines other than electrical and/or computer engineering are encouraged to take undergraduate ECE courses as prerequisites before enrolling in ECE graduate courses. Persons with engineering technology (EET) degrees or persons with non-engineering degrees not mentioned above must first earn a bachelor's or master's of science degree in one of the disciplines listed above before applying to our graduate program.
Students with bachelor's of science or master's of science degrees in one of the disciplines listed above with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 out of 4.0 from a recognized institute of higher education are eligible to apply for admission. The GRE is required of all applicants. There is no exemption for this policy under any circumstances. All applicants must submit scores for the following three parts: Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing. Official GRE Scores. Transcript (unofficial or official) for eligible degrees (only Physics, Computer Science, and all Engineering fields). Official transcripts are welcomed but are only submitted if an acceptance has been offered. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation. The required minimum total score on the exams are: The internet-based TOEFL exam = 90, with minimum section scores of 19 or higher on each skill area, The paper-based TOEFL exam = 577, IELTS exam - Overall score minimum of 7, with minimum section scores for reading 6.5, listening 6.5, speaking 6.5 and writing 5.5.
