Sheffield’s interdisciplinary approach to landscape archaeology combines perspectives and methods from biological and environmental sciences, ethnography, geography, geomatics, heritage studies and history. The department conducts research in many parts of the world and with a large number of collaborators, including in the UK, Greece, Italy, France, Russia, Spain, South Africa and Turkey. The department's projects reflect the long timescales that landscape affords, ranging from early hominin caves in South Africa through to studies of contemporary environmental protest camps in the UK. Our research places an especially strong emphasis on the ways the past actively shapes contemporary communities and their landscapes. We offer world-leading masters courses in landscape, environmental archaeology and cultural heritage, and we have a vibrant doctoral research community.

Entry requirements for 雪菲爾大學
The entry requirements for PhD study are a good (usually first class) degree and a good pass (merit or distinction) at Masters level in a relevant subject area. Non-native English speakers are also required to provide evidence of their English language ability.
In addition to your research proposal, you will also need to provide the following documentation:
• Proof of you undergraduate and postgraduate degrees (qualification, transcripts)
• Two academic references
• English language certificates (EU and International applicants)
• A curriculum vitae
You need an IELTS score of 6.5, with at least 5.5 in all the component tests.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) internet-based test (IBT) - Overall score of 88 or above, with at least 17 in Listening, 17 in Writing, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
