Bachelor of Science in Dietetics (Coordinated Program in Dietetics)

The B.S. in Dietetics prepares students for a career in nutrition and dietetics. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) as a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and fulfills the first step on the pathway to earning the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential. The other steps required to earn the RDN credential are to earn a graduate degree, complete an ACEND-required supervised practice program, and pass the national credentialing exam for dietitians offered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

The Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CPD) at Kansas State University provides the coursework as well as the supervised practice experience requirements of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The CP is a selective admission program with occurring mid-way through the curriculum. The supervised practice experience within the CP will provide a management semester, a clinical care semester and a community-based summer assignment. Beginning in 2024, the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) will require a minimum of a master's degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become an RDN. Based on the advanced degree requirement, students applying to the CP in Spring 2023 or later will be required to obtain a master's degree to sit for the credentialing exam. K-State's Department of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health offers a Master of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics and Sensory Science that can be completed following the supervised practice experience.
