Our degree is inspired by the work of contemporary artists and radical educators who help us see ourselves and the world in new ways. We believe that every artist-educator is a cultural worker, researcher, public intellectual, and activist. As artist-educators we explore the making and teaching of art as a social act, and consider its historical, political, and cultural contexts.Designed for students who already have teaching experience, this degree allows you to further explore issues that are central to the practice of teaching art in schools and alternative educational settings. Our classes model how theory and practice are integral to teaching and making art. We will also prepare you to be a persuasive advocate for the importance of the arts in schools and society through your writing, speaking, and teaching.You will graduate eligible to apply for New York State professional certification in Visual Arts: K?12 after completing 3 full years of teaching visual art.

Entry requirements for 纽约大学
In order to be considered for admission to this program, you must hold initial teacher certification in art education.We review all applications individually and holistically, but our expectation is that successful candidates for admission to any NYU Steinhardt MA program in teacher education will have a minimum 3.0 undergraduate grade point average. Special consideration may be granted to strong candidates with a GPA below 3.0.Upload one official copy of transcripts from every postsecondary school you have attended or are attending.Test of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TOEFL). Scores are valid for two years from the date taken. Successful candidates score a 100 on the Internet based exam or 600 on the paper based exam.The International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Official scores are valid for two years from the date taken. Successful candidates achieve a band score of 7.
