Students who have completed a master's degree in African American and African Studies or related fields can ordinarily apply directly to the PhD program. At the time of admission, the Graduate Studies Committee will decide the number of credits from the student's M.A. program that may be applied to the doctoral program. Students enrolling for the PhD with a relevant external M.A. degree can transfer up to 30 credits from the external M.A. program. Students enrolling for the Ph.D. with a relevant external M.A. degree can transfer up to 30 credits from the external M.A. program. Students enrolling for the PhD with a relevant external M.A. degree can transfer up to 30 credits from the external M.A. program. Students enrolling for the PhD with a relevant external M.A. degree can transfer up to 30 credits from the external M.A. program.
A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale or equivalent) for the last bachelor's or advanced degree earned.
