Signals are broadly defined as functions conveying “information about the behavior or attributes of some phenomenon” such as sound, images, and biological measurements. Current research activities include algorithmic techniques to improve signal transmission fidelity, storage and retrieval efficiency, subjective quality as well as quantitative methods for signal/image understanding and analysis. Application areas include (but are not limited to) optical, remote-sensed and medical image processing, signal processing for communications and radar systems, and genomic signal processing.

如何申請
Entry requirements for 賓州大學大學公園校區
Applicants should hold a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields such that any preparatory studies would take no more than one semester. Students with a minimum junior/senior grade-point average of 3.0 (out of 4.0) or equivalent and appropriate course backgrounds will be considered for admission.
Those holding M.S. degrees from other institutions may apply for entry directly to the Ph.D. program. Those holding B.S. degrees usually apply for the M.S. program, though highly qualified applicants with B.S. degrees may request immediate entry to the Ph.D. program. Those admitted to the Ph.D. program should expect to take candidacy exams within one year of entry.
Outstanding applicants are considered for support in the form of teaching assistantships, research assistantships, and various fellowships from the Department and the College of Engineering. To be considered for all forms of financial aid, fall applicants should supply all of the requested application items by December 15 (U.S. citizens by January 5).
The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 600 for the paper-based test, 250 for the computer-based test, or a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the Internet-based test (iBT).
The minimum composite score for the IELTS is 6.5
