The M.Eng. in Architectural Engineering is an intensive, non-thesis, 30-credit program. The curriculum’s built-in flexibility allows students to enroll in courses in a range of topics like construction robotics, energy efficiency, sustainable and resilient buildings, and human health and performance.

Statement of Intent
The statement of intent is used to decide who will review your application for admission and whether Penn State architectural engineering is a good match for you.
Résumé
Applicants are encouraged to include: education, research experience, professional experience, military experience, publications, conference attendance, honors/awards/scholarships, professional society memberships, leadership roles, etc.
Three Letters of Recommendation
Applicants must enter the contact information for three recommendation references.
Official scores from the Graduate Record Examination Aptitude Test (GRE), or from a comparable substitute examination accepted by the AE department and authorized by the Dean of the Graduate School, are required for admission.
The Department of Architectural Engineering recommends that applicants to the M.Eng. degree program should have a minimum score in the 65th percentile for the quantitative section of the GRE and a minimum score of 3.0 in the analytical writing section of the GRE.
The Department of Architectural Engineering recommends that applicants to the Ph.D. or M.S. degree programs should have a minimum score in the 80th percentile for the quantitative section of the GRE and a minimum score of 3.0 in the analytical writing section of the GRE.
All international applicants must take and submit scores for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), with the exceptions noted below. The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 550 for the paper-based test, 213 for the computer-based test, or a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the Internet-based test (iBT). Applicants with iBT speaking scores between 15 and 18 may be considered for provisional admission, with Graduate School approval, which requires an institutional test of English proficiency upon the first semester of enrollment and, if necessary, remedial course work. The minimum composite score for the IELTS is 6.5.
