Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama - Technical Theatre and Production

You’ll learn all aspects of backstage work, from set design and construction to budgeting, administration, and staffing. You’ll also learn the latest in theatre production technologies, such as digital sound, computerized light boards, technical drawing, and scenic flying. As a Technical Production student, you’ll have the unique opportunity to collaborate with directors, designers and actors from the University, as well as leading professionals from the local and national theatre scenes, to work on department productions and plays for the Studio Theatre season.The Drama major, taken as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree, studies the way theatre creates cultural, social, and political meaning with the help of a faculty of experts who are professionals in their field. You will be exposed to every aspect of the theatrical process, including courses in acting, directing, and playwriting, while combining theory and practice through hands-on projects. In Drama you will be provided the opportunity to learn from local experts from the Edmonton theatre community and to participate in rewarding faculty research projects.
