Doctor of Philosophy - Visual Arts and Digital Arts

Research in the design, digital and visual arts is focused on the development and testing of knowledge through the creation of works of art. You will develop experimental and analytical methodologies and learn to locate your work within specific historical, cultural and theoretical contexts. These degrees are suitable if you wish to extend your creative, technical and analytical skills under the supervision of expert staff.

In the research degrees you will construct a practice based project under the supervision of a panel whose expertise encompasses theory and practice. The PhD and MPhil degrees include a creative arts coursework component.

The graduate certificate, diploma and masters degrees incorporate individual studio practice projects, core theory, master classes, field studies, research projects and other courses from allied areas. This broad choice enables you to develop a program of study that suits your individual needs and interests. Areas taught in the School of Art include ceramics, digital media, glass, gold and silversmithing, furniture, painting, photomedia, printmaking, drawing, sculpture and textiles. Working closely with expert staff is a key feature of each program.
